Drawing & Painting Animals
We will be exploring fish, birds, and mammals through painting and drawing! Bring a water bottle to class. You are also welcome to pack a snack as we will have a short break in the middle of the session. Nature Inspired Sculptures, Paintings & Installation Art
Students will explore & observe nature & living organisms at the Garfield Nature Preserve as well as the creek around the corner. Artworks will be made in various mediums from found objects, watercolor, acrylics, & our own paints through life found in nature as well as food to enhance our skills. The artwork will reflect your child’s inspiration & experience. Each week we will focus on different found & grown materials and how we feel lead & driven to interact & create with them. Join us for an evening of settling into the space, exploring with a variety of materials (oil pastels, water color, alcohol inks, acrylic paint, printing ink and brayers, etc) and creating with ease as you listen to your body simply asking you to play. Each week you will create a new piece of art to keep. Please bring a water bottle & journal/sketchbook to class.

The wonder of insects! This class will focus on the wonder of insects through exploration and innovation. We will learn about symmetry, sculpture, drawing, and painting through observation and imagination. Bring a water bottle to class. You may also pack a snack if you choose as time will allow for that. Landscapes, Seascapes, & Cityscapes
This is a 6 session course. Each project will take two classes to complete. We will be creating a landscape with a foreground, middle ground, & background and learn about the art of blending, a seascape collage using paper, acrylic paint, scissors, pencil, Artix, & Sharpie, and a cityscape collage using paper, paint, scissors, Artstix, glue. This a multi-session class. Over the course of the classes we will create a large scale collage monster. Students will explore several several mediums, patterns, designs, and shapes throughout the process. The work will be influenced by Maurice Sendak’s book, Where The Wild Things Are along with several other pieces of literature. Please bring a water bottle to class. Landscapes, seascapes and city scapes will be a 6 week course focused on perspective, collage, drawing, and painting. We will create a landscape, seascape & cityscape.
Event One
Sumi-e Ink Painting originates in China and Japan. It involves a bamboo brush, hake brush, and ink. In these classes we will explore Kanji Characters, bamboo paintings, and dragon paintings.
